A Prayer for Veterans God of peace, we pray for those who have served our nation and have laid down their lives to protect and defend our freedom. We pray for those who have fought, whose spirits and bodies are scarred by war, whose nights are haunted by memories too painful for the light of day. Each year on November 11, the United States observes Veterans Day, honoring all those who have served our country in times of war. Here at the Basilica, we are deeply grateful to all those who have committed their lives to furthering peace and freedom through military service, understanding the great physical, spiritual, and mental demands they face.
