Veterans Day is a day for Americans to celebrate members of the U.S. Armed Forces and honor their sacrifice and service to country. At Microsoft, the week leading up to Veterans Day is filled with events focused on honoring, celebrating and expressing gratitude for veterans and military communities around the world both inside and outside of Microsoft. Many in Microsoft’s military community are veterans and others still serve today, in reserve corps for their countries. They commit weekends to training. They accept the responsibility of periodic deployments, some weeks and even months in duration. We commemorated last year’s Remembrance Day, commonly referred to as Poppy Day, and Veterans Day with a virtual 5k and a 22-push-up challenge that called attention to the heartbreaking statistic that on average, 22 veterans die by suicide each day.
